Dr.Shahrokh Amiri’s (Faculty Member of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Department of Psychiatry) Travel Outcomes from XVI World Congress of Psychiatry The 16th World Congress of Psychiatry, hosted by the World Psychiatry Association, was held from September 14th to September 18th, 2014 in Madrid-Spain with the participation of hundreds of psychiatrists around the world. In this congress, nearly 3160 papers were presented in the form of posters and lectures, of which 2429 were in the form of posters and the rest were lectures. The latest psychiatric news in various fields such as personality disorder, mood disorders, schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, addiction, anxiety disorders, art and psychiatry, new treatment methods for psychiatric disorders, prevention of psychiatric disorders, and promotion of public health were discussed and analyzed. My paper entitled “Prevalence of depressive symptoms among survivors of burn injury” was presented at mood disorders panel.
President of the World Psychiatric Association, Prof. Pedro Ruiz , and presidents of psychiatric associations all over the world participated in this congress. In addition to the impact of this congress on my knowledge and perspective towards the latest psychiatric issues around the world, it acquainted me with other colleagues from other countries. I also shared ideas on diagnostic and therapeutic methods for psychiatric disorders with the president of Azerbaijan Psychiatric Association and professors from Russia. We agreed to continue corresponding and sharing ideas on further academic cooperation in future.
