Report of attending the 9^th World Stroke Congress

The 9^th World Stroke Congress was held at Istanbul, Turkey 22-25 October 2014 with cooperation of WSO and WHO. It is a biannual congress held in the member countries of WSO.

I took part in the congress from first to the last day, which included taking part in two teaching courses and many symposiums and sessions. The well known clinicians and researchers in the field of stroke had lectures and took part in interactive sessions and discussed the updated hot topics in the stroke from all around the world. One main topic was the increased burden of stroke in low and middle income counties (including our countries). This demands the very close cooperation of the ministry of health with WSO and WHO to implement the primary prevention measures seriously in the country. Another main topic was the emphasis on the stroke units as a major factor in increasing the quality of care and decreasing the frequency of complications of stroke. The latest advances in the both medical and interventional treatment and diagnosis of stroke were also discussed.
